Thank you for your interest in AMW Myofunctional Therapy. Please, allow us to answer the most common questions we get to help you make an informed decision prior to moving forward and scheduling our comprehensive assessment.

What age range do you work with?

We love working with as young as 4 years old and have patients in their 60s. It is never to late to optimize oral function.

Can orofacial Myofunctional Therapy help me?

OMT helps retrain the orofacial muscles to perform their functions optimally. Our goal is to improve or establish nasal breathing, create and/or strengthen a proper lip seal wether that be at rest or eating, optimize your tongues resting posture, and have a stable swallowing pattern.

Do you work with insurance?

AMW Myofunctional Therapy is a fee for service practice so we can focus our time providing the best care to our patients. We do not work with insurances. HSA cards are accepted.

Do you see patients online?

Yes. We see patients both in person at our office in Irvine, CA and online through Zoom.

How long does treatment take?

Treatment can range from 8-12 months for adults and children. However, this is not a rule. It depends on the chief complaint, motivation of the patient, completion of at home repetitions, and if any other therapy treatment modalities are involved.

How much does it cost?

Do you offer a discount for families?

Yes. Second patient of the same family gets a complimentary discount along with third and fourth accordingly.

Who is going to be doing my therapy?

You will either be seeing Allison, Alyssa, or Halyna.

Can I stop treatment at any time?

Yes. If for any reason you do not wish to continue therapy, send us an email and we will be happy to follow your wishes.

DO you charge a cancellation fee?

Due to high demand of therapy sessions, and respect for our therapist time we do have a 48 hours cancellation and no show policy.

How does therapy work?

We can start with the inquiry call or the comprehensive assessment. Once the Comprehensive Assessment is schedule we will send you a patient portal link from our EHR software (SimlePractice) asking you to complete the new patient paperwork. We ask to have those forms and questionnaires completed by at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.

During the 75-90 min. assessment appointment we will review chief concerns, medical history, and questionnaires. From there we gather a full gambit of different photos and videos observing the facial muscle movements and interactions. Along with everyone’s favorite part of eating some snacks and drinking water, all which are provided unless there are dietary concerns or allergies.

After the comprehensive assessment, if you choose to move forward with therapy, we usually begin sessions either weekly or every 2 weeks and with a duration of approximately 45mins.
